A recently added MBA essay option that we greatly welcome. Often an MBA applicant's candidacy is not fully captured by the achievements highlighted in the CV and letters of recommendation. So, it is important to understand the context of their achievements, an d the struggles they have faced on their path to success.
If you have gained unique life experiences due to your unique background, bring them here and describe how they have shaped you. These experiences could be related to family, schooling, or communities in which you grew up. These could also be about extracurricular activities or community work that have given you unique insight into human conditions.
At all times, be mindful to tie it together - in how you will contribute to Georgetown's community, enhance its diversity. And don't forget - through this MBA essay too you are being evaluated for your potential to be a successful MBA candidate!
Cura Personalis: As the oldest Jesuit institution in the United States, cura personalis is a Latin phrase deeply ingrained within our community and translates to “care of the person.” It
encompasses a profound sense of care and responsibility for one another, rooted in personalized attention to each individual’s needs,
unique circumstances, gifts, and limitations, fostering the growth of each person.
Please reflect on a specific instance where you exemplified cura personalis by supporting a teammate or coworker.
Describe the particular actions you took to guide them, and explain the impact of these efforts.
Additionally, discuss how you would leverage these experiences to contribute to the collaborative environment at Georgetown McDonough.

For this MBA essay, pick an example that is compelling, moving, and also presents you as a strong leader and potential MBA candidate. Giving specific, concrete details to your story will make your narrative vivid and memorable.
Since the main focus is on other's good, make sure you clearly highlight what was the real impact of your actions.

All business schools seek high-achieving smart leaders.
Start by giving the context and if applicable any challenges associated with the situation. Show your thought process throughout the experience. Take the reader with you in your mental and emotional journey.
When giving details about your experiences, put specical focus on how you achieved excellence, how you went above and beyond, how you were able to make the extraordinary happen!
To address the last part of the question, focus on your main strengths and skills as part of the leadership example and connect directly with how you will contribute to Georgetown, how will be a leader and create a lasting impact on Georgetown.

Throughout the application, we’ve learned about what you would add as a professional and leader. Just as important is learning about your interests outside of work.
The admissions committee would like for you to appear in person for part of your video and we strongly encourage you to speak outside of the experiences noted on your resume.
You may use your phone, computer, or other means to record the video, but please ensure all audio and visual components are clear. We recommend a well-lit room and minimal noise distraction. Your video should be about 1 minute in length.
