Essay 1: Give detailed descriptions of three activities you performed in your workplace in the last five years which will help us assess your abilities and strengths. (300-500 words)

Essay 1 Tips: Start by looking back at your professional life and think about 3-4 key strengths you have displayed over the years. These are the qualities that you would want to show to IIMC adcom. Now pick incidents that reflect these strengths.

Clearly giving details of each activity in 500 words might be a little challenging so keep it concise and to the point: give context, describe your role, state challenges if any, highlight your actions and show the outcomes.

Ideally your stories will show elements of your strength as a leader, highlight your interpersonal skills and demonstrate the impact you had on your team, client or company. If you can quantify it- great! If you can show positive responses from others and maybe also have your recommenders talk about these achievements- even better!

Essay 2: Narrate an important/unusual incident of your life when you had to face a very demanding/challenging situation. How did you overcome the situation? What lessons did you learn from this incident? (300-500 words)

Essay 2 Tips: What you decide to talk about will reveal your character, values and maturity.

Think about your challenging times and how you overcame them. Most challenges are associated with tough calls, with dilemmas, with high stakes. Its then that you are unsure about the path and the outcome. Pick one incident where you overcame the challenge successfully and learnt a great deal about the situation, yourself and perhaps life in general.

Start by giving the context and the challenges associated with the situation. Show what decisions you had to make and why those were difficult for you. Describe your thought process throughout the experience. Take the reader with you in your mental and emotional journey. Giving specific concrete details to your story will make your narrative vivid and memorable.

If possible try not leave the narrative at your actions and learning from that incident. Show that you have been affected deeply and it has shaped you into what you are today and maybe include a brief example of how you have applied your learning to deal with a similar challenge when it happened again in your life.
